Something you probably don't know about me: I have a penchant for B-series television shows. Mutant X, Highlander, Forever Knight: they were those shows that had a lower budget than the big broadcast networks like ABC and CBS and were maybe a little hacky, but still managed to put on a good show. Well, maybe not a "good" show but an enjoyable one none the less.
The best of all these, though, was La Femme Nikita. I spent many late nights in high school watching Nikita on the USA Network from midnight to one in the morning (right after Silk Stalkings). Then in college, I taped all 96 episodes when Oxygen or WE (one of the women's channels) was broadcasting it daily. I spent the summer before graduation researching graduate schools, writing essays, and filling out applications all while watching Nikita. I even polyurethaned the TV stand which is now in my flat to Nikita and her love-angsted spying.
Now, four years from that summer and ten years from originally watching it on TV, I still listen to the soundtrack on a regular basis and reminisce on how much I enjoyed it. I wonder, in four or ten years, what things about Israel will I look back on with that fondness? Will there be anything? What will I have forgotten by that time? What things have I forgotten already? I guess only time will determine what endures, and what (if anything) from here will take it's place next to Nikita.

war. I...

Dan,
I loved that show too. I think you may have been the one that got me hooked on it.
